Day Five

I got up at 6:30 and went for a sunrise run.

Then Dan and I had breakfast and broke camp. We considered using the available shower facilities, but the water was so hard that even our Castile soap left a residue, so I cleaned myself up as best I could and we set off for my father's house in Bosque, about thirty miles south of Albuquerque.

We stopped briefly in the Black Range so Audrey could admire the view...

...but for the most part I took no pictures because I was tired and there isn't anything worth seeing that I haven't photographed on earlier trips.

We arrived at my Dad's place exhausted, and were grateful to be able to unpack for a few days and take proper showers. Then, since my Uncle Lorenzo was working on his property across the way, we paid him a visit. He's converting an old mobile home into a replica train car for use as a rental or private getaway. I forgot to take my camera, but I'll try to get pictures tomorrow because it's really amazing what he's doing over there.

The little visit with my uncle energized me, and I hung out and tried to get caught up on news and blogs before dinner. My dad fixed us a healthy meal of fish, vegetables, and salad, with preserved apples from his property for dessert.

It'll probably be an early night for me. I'm pretty tired after such poor sleep last night. Tomorrow, we may go look for some ghost towns, but our plans often change on the road.

I was worried that Audrey would fall over the railing and that you might have to hike down a canyon to get her! LOL. Fabulous photos--I'm drinking them in. So different than the lush greenery here.
